Whether you’re brand new to sailing or brushing up on your skills, ASA sailing courses with Go Sail Bahamas offer the perfect balance of independence, connection, and alone time!

Solo Sailors Series 1 course details

Earn your International Proficiency Certificate (IPC) after just one week at sea! Once you’ve completed your IPC you can bareboat charter just about anywhere in the world. These are the hands-on ASA group courses you’ll complete with Go Sail Bahamas to become eligible for your IPC: 

ASA 101: Keelboat Sailing 

ASA 103: Coastal Cruising 

ASA 104: Bareboat Cruising with International Proficiency Certificate (IPC)

ASA 114: Cruising Catamaran

These hands-on learning courses are offered together as part of a Go Sail Bahamas’ Series 1 ASA group course. If you have already taken any of these ASA certifications, you can choose to skip them and if you’ve completed all of them — consider taking advanced sailing courses with Go Sail Bahamas instead!

  • Sailing skills: Master essential maneuvers like tacking, jibing, and heaving-to—by week’s end, taking the helm will feel like second nature.
  • Crew communication: Even solo sailors need solid crew dynamics. Build teamwork skills and form friendships that often last long after the course ends on a ASA group course.
  • One-on-one coaching: Get personalized instruction tailored to your experience level and sailing goals from top-notch American Sailing instructors.
  • Weather wisdom: Learn how to read the skies and use trusted forecasting tools to make smart, safe decisions on the water.
  • Sailing safety: Discover must-have safety gear, where to find it, and how to use it with confidence.
  • Boat Systems: Dive into the inner workings of your vessel—electrical, generators, air conditioning, refrigeration, water-makers, and more.
  • Anchoring & Mooring: Get hands-on practice with anchoring and mooring techniques. (Note: Go Sail Bahamas will dock your sailboat for you before and after every course and charter. ASA 118 is not offered as part of our Solo Sailor courses).

Abaco: Solo Traveler Premium Catamaran Course

  • Sunday (3 PM) to Saturday (10 AM)
  • Group Course - 2-6 guests 18+, with Captain

Go Sail’s premium ASA courses feature 2020-2025 Lagoon or Fountaine Pajot sailboats, between 42-46 feet long. These luxury sailboats are the gold standard for solo travel groups. A premium course with an Abaco Islands Bahamas sailing itinerary is the ideal way to learn to sail for solo travelers. 

Our ASA bareboat chartering courses feature customized, hands-on skill building activities for you to learn to sail. Your sailing course includes ASA 101, ASA 103, ASA 104, and ASA 114 certifications as well as the opportunity to earn your International Proficiency Certificate (IPC).
