FAQ: Eating Out and Cooking on a Bahamas Sailing Vacation

FAQ with Bahamas sailing logo and text on eating out and cooking during a sailing vacation. With Bahamas sailing vacations, you not only experience exhilarating sailing and relaxing beaches, but you also have a chance to taste the flavorful cuisine of the Caribbean. Here’s all you need to know about dining out and eating aboard with Go Sail Bahamas:

Are there good restaurants in the Abaco Islands?

Of course! One of the highlights of Bahamas sailing vacations is sampling tasty local dishes throughout the islands, and our captains know all the best spots. Some of our favorites are:

Snappas Bar and Grill – Conveniently located at the marina where your journey begins, Snappas serves delicious Caribbean fare and excellent tropical drinks.

Big O’s Bar and Restaurant – Big O’s takes pride in their meticulously crafted dishes, which honor local cuisine. While you savor fresh seafood with your toes in the sand, you might even receive a visit from the famous swimming pigs that reside there!

Nippers Beach Bar and Grill – With two pools and famously strong drinks, Nippers is the place for good food, trop rock music, and a lively atmosphere.

What is the best way to get provisions for Bahamas sailing vacations?

We recommend first taking a taxi from the airport directly to the marina, which is about a fifteen-minute drive, and should cost around fifteen dollars, to drop off your bags. From the marina, you can ask the same driver to take you to the nearest grocery store, just ten minutes away. The grocery store is large, well-stocked, and reasonably priced, with everything you might need for Bahamas sailing vacations.

Since there are affordable Abaco Islands grocery stores on every island we visit, it’s best to shop conservatively at first and restock as needed during your trip. Your taxi driver may be willing to wait while you shop, or you can get their contact information to arrange a return ride to the marina when you’re done. Plan to complete your shopping trip before boarding begins, which is usually around 4 PM.

Does Go Sail stock food and provide meals?

Yes, the boat will be fully stocked with food for your voyage, along with basic cooking equipment. However, if you want some extra food items or alcohol, you can purchase them from one of the Abaco Islands grocery stores. Your captain will also cook some meals on board.

Will Go Sail accommodate my dietary restrictions?

Yes, let us know about your dietary restrictions, and we will stock the kitchen with food options that are safe for you.
