New Year’s Party in Marsh Harbour
Marsh Harbour is the unofficial holiday headquarters of Abaco. Home to the famous Christmas Boat Parade, the small marina is also where you’ll find the best New Year’s Eve party in the Bahamas. Located at the starting point of the boat parade, the Jibroom Restaurant, the party kicks off around 7 pm. Last year, for $80, guests were treated to a lobster dinner, a glass of sparkling wine, and live music to celebrate the new year.
Weather On New Year’s Eve
If you take ASA courses with our Bahamas sailing school over New Year’s Eve, you’ll sail in Abaco during the high season. Temperatures, precipitation, and rain are all at ideal levels, so you’ll likely have excellent weather for celebrating New Year’s Eve in the Bahamas.
How to Dress
Locals love to dress up in colorful shirts and dresses on New Year’s Eve. Be sure to wear lightweight clothing, as even the evenings are warm during New Year’s Eve in the Bahamas.
Junkanoo
If you want to experience the ultimate holiday party in Abaco, you’ll want to plan your trip around Junkanoo. This celebration of culture, costume, and music of the Bahamas takes place on two dates, in two different locations. If you plan to arrive in Marsh Harbour before taking American Sailing courses with our Bahamas sailing school, you can attend the late-night Junkanoo party in Marsh Harbour. But if you want to celebrate it on the day of New Year’s Eve, we suggest sailing before the holiday and spending a night on Green Turtle Cay, where you can celebrate 2 holidays at the same time.
Where Can I Find Champagne?
When you take ASA courses with our Bahamas sailing school, we will stock the kitchen with supplies and even a complimentary bottle of wine. However, if you want to choose your own bubbly, we recommend visiting a local bottle shop or grocery store in Marsh Harbour.
