6 Reasons To Go Flotilla Sailing in the Bahamas
Once you have some American Sailing courses under your belt, you’ll want to start considering bareboat chartering— or setting sail on a flotilla! Flotilla sailing in the Bahamas is a totally unique experience where we link up half a dozen or more luxury yachts to explore the Abaco Islands! Here’s why you’ll want to consider taking a Bahamas flotilla trip as your next sailing adventure:
1. Support from knowledgeable sailors
All the Bahamas flotilla sailing trips with Go Sail Bahamas include a lead boat with a knowledgeable American Sailing instructor and first-mate. Our ASA instructors are on-hand to help you moor and anchor, work on your sailing skills, and provide you with itinerary ideas of where to sail each day. Hop on board their boat for a drink, to ask questions, or to make new friends— the Go Sail staff is on the flotilla to help make your sailing experience as enjoyable as possible!
2. Meet like-minded Bahamas travelers
A Bahamas flotilla is a great way to get to know other sailors while still having your own space and sailing plans. While sailboats in a flotilla travel together along a planned route, it is possible to go your own way since your yacht is independently crewed! You can also enjoy the camaraderie and support of all those participating in the flotilla as much or as little as you’d like. It’s the best of both worlds!
3. Stress-free vacation planning
One of the best things about Bahamas flotillas is the lack of planning you have to do as a participant! Most vacations require you to plan stops, decide on where to eat, research the best Bahamas beaches and snorkeling locales, and figure out travel logistics on your own. However, on a Bahamas flotilla, Go Sail Bahamas will do the hard work for you! Our crew of knowledgeable sailors will give you all the tips, tricks, insights, and itinerary options to make your Bahamas flotilla adventure your best sailing trip to date!
4. Assistance gaining new sailing skills
While you do need your ASA 101 certification to participate in a Go Sail Bahamas flotilla, Go Sail’s flotillas are perfect for novice sailors looking to expand their sailing skills. On a flotilla you’ll have command of your own sailboat, like bareboat chartering, but unlike bareboat chartering— you’ll have a lead boat you can ask for guidance! You’ll have constant radio communication with the lead boat and when you are tied up in the evening, you can just hop on over to the lead boat to ask your American Sailing instructor any questions you may have!
5. Local insights on Bahamas hidden gems
The Go Sail Bahamas crew has plenty of local insights to share on our Bahamas flotillas! We’ll share hidden gem snorkeling locations in the Bahamas and give you great tips about where to eat ashore. Going on a hike or looking for tours on land? We’d love to give you some options! Feel free to ask Go Sail for information on Bahamas hidden gems before you set sail or just ask when you are already aboard. Our Bahamas sailing itineraries are flexible to make sure every sailor enjoys their Bahamas sailing vacation to the fullest!
6. Discounts offered for Go Sail alumni
